5th blog

When the wedding was happening there were some Nazis their so they later hid in a wagon. Then later got captured and put in a cargo with a bunch of people it was terrible in the cargo. Then they were put into a concentration camp, Where they put numbers on them. Hanna is now number J197241later she meets Rivka and starts to make a plan to escape. He tells her information about the camp and how you know if someone is a Jew or not by the number it starts off with a letter. Know they are making plans to escape the camp.

Well for this book The Devils Arithmetic I would say that the genre is Historical Fiction. I say this because it takes part in the Holocaust, and because she goes back in time to the Holocaust. The part of the book that makes it historical is they talk about the cargo trains and and the concentration camps and them putting a number on their arms. The fiction part of the book is when she gets dizzy then falls and she goes back into time and gets into the concentration camp.

The Devil's Arithmetic

So far in the beginning of the book she didn't want to go the Passover but she ends up going to the Passover. She sees the numbers on her grandpa's number on his arm and she copies it and he gets mad then starts to yell at her in Yiddish. Then she goes to the bedroom and feels dizzy, she wakes up in the past and meets many new people. Later Shmuel is getting married and he invited guest but they were Nazis and she told him that they kill and they killed 6 million of them. Later she starts to remember the things she learned in her class.

Aha Moment is one of the sigh post that I would say I see in this book because she goes back into the past. While she is in the past she also starts to remember the thing that she learned while she was in class. Also she remembered how many Jews were going to be killed and who were Nazis or not.

Holocaust Blog

I think that people watched it happen and let it happen because the Nazi’s was the greatest army in the world at that time and they were scared to do anything cause if they resisted the Nazis they would kill them. I think that others were inspired because of what they saw that the Nazis were doing to the Jews. I probably would have been a bystanders because it would be very scary to go against a army and what they could do back then. But like what the up standers did was good for the Jews hide them in secret pretending to make them work but actually helping them.

Worker's rights Poem thought's

The Argument of the article was that Nike was not treating their workers fair and giving them minimum wage. Some evidence that they gave was Slapping, kicking them, they would throw shoes at them, and even make them stand in the hot sun. They would pay them minimum wage of $1.25 a day. I think that is not right because a lot of people buy Nike products so the workers should get more money for their work and better conditions were they are working. The thing that surprised me was that things they do when they mess up on the job like they make them stand in the hot sun or hit them with the shoes they is not fair for the people that work their.

In the poem Sweatshops its about a person was just a machine because they are making these things for people. Some evidence that they tell to back up the claim is that the boss calls him a machine and yells at him to go so that he works harder and faster. The poem was different because how it was told it was told like he was talking about a machine and he was the machine and in the article they just told us what they did and why its bad. It made it more difficult to understand like if it was a machine or it was a person calling himself a machine because he works all day they are yelling at him to work.

Seeing Red

So far in the book Seeing Red I think that is a good start because they are talking about what is happening and then what happen in the past one reasons are that red had a friend that he use to hang out with a kids named Thomas. Reds dad had died and red went to the grave at twelve o'clock and he meet up with Rosie and Darrell and they used a Ouija board. To contact his dad that has died and to ask him how to make his mom stay not to leave. So Red still goes the the shop where him and his dad use to go and work on some cars. But Red mom wants to leave because she doesn't have enough money to pay the bills and wants to move with her family and red doesn't want to because most of his cousins are not his age and his families house. So Red starts to do some things to stay where he already is, like hang out with Darrell which he knows will make his father disappointed if he was still their.

One of the conflicts I think is man vs society because I think that their are a little bit of racist people. Like Mr. Donlop he said to get Thomas who is African American to stay away from his property because he was African American. So reds dad told Mr. Donlop to get over that he was African American So Mr. Donlop said that he had a girl witch I think had nothing to do with Thomas. So that is one of the conflicts in the story so far.

I think that the genre is historic fiction because it has things to do with the past. Like the conflict is has to do with racism. And a lot of problems that Red is going through like his dad dyeing then him mom wanting to move away because she doesn't want little pars of her husband and him not actually their. So I think it is historical fiction because it is about a teenagers life which is fiction and a little to do with the past which is historical.

The plot of the story is about family friends and race issues and he live in Rocky Gap Virginia. Red is having some problems with his family because he doesn't want to sell the family business. But his mom wants to sell the house, car repair shop. And their are a lot of racial issue it has to be in the 1970 where this book is taken place in so their is a lot of racism. He has some friends problems while all of this is happening.

Call Of Duty

This article Call Of Duty I thought was a good article because he kind of risks his life in doing his jobs. When the bad things happen to him he gets so depressed because all he wanted was his dog and they didn't give him the dog because he was still in use in finding the bombs until he was finished. Which I think They should've gave him the dog because he got injured during the war but they didn't give him his partner and then later he adopted the dog that he liked a lot and was nice I thought.

Independent Book Summary

Independent book Summary
The new book That I am reading is Code Talker. He is telling his grandchildren The story of the medal he got in World War II. He was sent to boarding school when he was like six years old and they were telling them that they could not speak in their language and that they had to speak English. If you talked in their language they would give them a punishment the main character said something in Navajo and they washed out his mouth. He graduated boarding school and went to a high school thats when the Japanese bombed pearl harbor and he wanted to join the Navajo platoon which were part of the U.S. Army. The only thing that was stoping him was the permission of his parents. They told him to wait another year. He waited the year and then joined the platoon for the which was a platoon that speak Navajo they were called code talkers witch would save lives of Americans against the Japanese.

The kid in the book is really smart he can speak both english and Navajo. When he goes to school he does pretty good. But the thing that character really is brave cause he wants to join the army but he really cant cause he really doesn't know how old he is but he he is really smart to join. But he is determined to join cause he wits the year that his parent told him to wait and he did and he went to go sigh up for the platoon.

The point of view of my book is first person point of view because in the whole book he is telling his story to his grandchildren and he says I to show that he is talking about what he did and what he would say or think. And in the beginning of the book he said "I was only six years old I was worried."

Lemon Brown

Lemon Brown
Greg wanted to join a Baseball team but he couldn't cause he was failing math and his father said that he couldn't until it goes up then he gave him a lecture about how he had a life where he had to leave school when he was 13. Then greg was walking and saw a house where it was slightly open and went to and heard something and then met Lemon Brown and they were talking about his treasure. But then their were these thugs trying to take his treasure and they were hiding and took out one of the thugs. The others left while they could so afterwards Lemon Brown showed Greg his treasure and and talked about it and then Greg went walking home thinking about Lemon Brown and Then was remembering how his dad was going to give him the same lecture and just went smiling home. My reaction was that a lot of people are homeless and have no where to go and just find somewhere to be. This story connect to what we have learned by a lot of people don't have good clothes like Lemon Brown and and the homeless have no where to go and find a place that is not that good. What was interesting to me was that Greg actually stayed with him and then got to see Lemon Browns treasure. Greg changed by him realizing that he needs to do better in school.
